Design and documentation

These services define the intended solution before installation, then help verify important parameters and record the system that was actually built when the work is completed.

Design may be required for a new building, refurbishment, connection of production equipment, modernisation of a distribution system or an installation extension. The content is adapted to the project stage, technical brief and information needed for construction, coordination or subsequent operation and maintenance.

Documentation may include layouts, diagrams, load and material information, cable or equipment references and completion data. The measurement types are selected for the particular installation and purpose, such as checks following new work, assessment after modifications or investigation of the condition of an existing system.

Where only partial initial information is available, the property is first surveyed, existing elements are identified and unresolved questions are clarified before a complete technical solution is prepared.

Design scope and application

The technical solution considers supply parameters, expected loads, room functions, equipment locations, control needs and interaction with other engineering systems. The required level of detail depends on the construction stage and the people who will use the documents during installation, coordination and later maintenance.

For an existing building, design often begins by comparing available diagrams with actual site conditions. A survey identifies sections that can remain, distribution possibilities and missing information, reducing the need to make technical decisions during installation without adequate evidence or coordination.

Documentation and change records

Clear documentation helps the installer understand the intended solution, the customer review the scope and the facility manager identify circuits and equipment later. The document set is agreed for the task because a limited alteration and a complex property development require different levels of technical detail.

If routes, equipment or connections change during installation, relevant changes should be reflected in the final materials. Completion information may include revised diagrams, labelling, equipment lists and other agreed data that support future maintenance, fault finding or extension of the electrical system.

Measurements and work sequence

Depending on the installation, measurements may cover insulation resistance, continuity of protective conductors, earthing, loop parameters and the operation of protective devices. The exact set of checks follows the system type, condition and purpose of the assessment rather than one unchanged checklist for every property.

Work begins by clarifying the brief, diagrams and site access. Following the survey, a solution or measurement plan is prepared, the required work is completed and the findings are compiled. The customer receives the agreed records in a clear form with the inspected parts and results identified.

Upon completion, we provide full as-built documentation — as-built drawings, testing protocols, measurement reports, equipment certificates, warranty documents and system user manuals.
We perform insulation resistance measurements, protective conductor continuity tests, short-circuit loop impedance measurements, grounding resistance measurements and residual current device (RCD) testing.
According to Latvian regulations, periodic electrical installation inspection must be performed every 10 years for residential buildings and every 3-5 years for commercial and public buildings. Measurements are also recommended after any changes to the electrical installation.
